More about how to diet

Lower your food intake

Do not try to fool anyone deliberately. It is recommended to eat various foods and portion sizes should be based on age, sex and activity. A 40-year-old woman who exercises 30-60 minutes a day needs about 2,000 calories per day, is recommended 2.5 cups of vegetables and 2 cups of fruit a day. That's not so intimidating. But it is hard to limit portions of pasta, rice and bread that we used to eat.

If the same woman of 40 years eating cereal in the morning, a sandwich at lunch and consume a bag of pretels, has already exceeded the limit for the day and did not even come to dinner.

Even if a food is considered good and healthy, if you consume too much is not good for you. Eat too much and the calories are stored as fat on the ribs and hips, or worse, on the abdomen, where it is dangerous.

Control of blood glucose
For people who suffer from diabetes, portion control is the most important change you make to improve blood glucose levels. Why is this so important?

9 of 10 people suffering from diabetes are obese and may be resistant to insulin or deficient or both. When the pancreas does not produce enough insulin or when cells do not respond to insulin, high glucose is a consequence of which if not controlled, lead to complications like heart disease, kidney, blindness and many others.

A healthy weight and exercise can improve insulin resistance and deficiency, resulting in glucose control, even without medication. But with no portion control, weight loss and maintaining an optimal weight are impossible.

In the past 20 years, we've become accustomed to eating large portions of food, healthy and unhealthy, and without looking at the nutritional values. This had a negative impact on our weight.

Even if you are aware that eating too much, sometimes it is hard to stop. Start right now to stay away from restaurants, at least for a while.
